Paul Krugman, New York University professor

He is a Distinguished Professor in Economics at the City University of New York (CUNY) Graduate Center, a core faculty member at the Stone Center on Socio-Economic Inequal¬ity, and Luxembourg Income Study (LIS) Senior Scholar. Previously, he was professor of econom¬ics at Princeton University.

He won the 2008 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences for his groundbreaking work on international trade and economic geography. He is the author or editor of 20 books and more than 200 papers in professional journals and edited volumes. Professor Krugman is one of the founders of the “new trade theory,” a major rethinking of the theory of international trade, for which he also received the John Bates Clark medal in 1991 from the American Economic Association, a prize given every two years to “that economist under forty who is adjudged to have made a significant contribution to economic knowledge.”

In addition to the Nobel Prize, Krugman’s work in economics has earned him broad acclaim from the economic press and several prestigious awards, including the John Bates Clark medal from the American Economic Association for his work in international trade and finance. He is recognized worldwide as a leader in the fields of economic geography and the role of increasing returns in shaping international trade.

He was chosen as one of Bloomberg’s 50 Most Influential People in Global Finance, 2011. He has been honored to be one of Foreign Policy’s Top 100 Global Thinkers for four straight years (2009-2012).

Anne Elizabeth Applebaum

Anne Applebaum – historian, journalist at The Atlantic, Pulitzer prize winner and geopolitical expert.

A seasoned International Affairs and Foreign Policy journalist at The Atlantic, she is also the author of a New York Times bestseller. She is a senior researcher at the Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins University.

She has worked with a number of media outlets covering foreign affairs, including The Washington Post, The Economist, Foreign Affairs, New Republic and The New York Review of Books. She wrote The Twilight of Democracy and is the only writer to have won the Duff Cooper Prize twice for her books. In 2021, she was presented with the Award for Excellence in International Reporting by the International Center for Journalists (ICFJ), and in October of this year she was presented the 38 th Francisco Cerecedo Journalism Award by King Felipe VI of Spain.

She was the Director of the Transitions Forum at the Legatum Institute between 2011 and 2015, and she is the cofounder of the Democracy Lab. She is also a fellow of the Center for European Policy Analysis and a lecturer in International Affairs and History at the London School of Economics.

She studied at Yale and was a Marshall Scholar at the London School of Economics and at St. Antony's College at Oxford University.

Francis Fukuyama

Francis Fukuyama, renowned political commentator, futurist and author, Professor at Stanford University

He is the Olivier Nomellini Senior Fellow at the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI), and Director of the Ford Dorsey Master’s in International Policy.  He is also a professor (by courtesy) of Political Science.

From 2015 to 2021, he served as the Mosbacher Director of FSI’s Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law (CDDRL).

Dr. Fukuyama has written widely on issues in development and international politics.  His 1992 book, The End of History and the Last Man, has appeared in over twenty foreign editions.   His most recent book, Identity: The Demand for Dignity and the Politics of Resentment, was published in Sept. 2018.

Francis Fukuyama received his B.A. from Cornell University in classics, and his Ph.D. from Harvard in Political Science.  He was a member of the Political Science Department of the RAND Corporation, and of the Policy Planning Staff of the US Department of State.  From 1996-2000 he was Omer L. and Nancy Hirst Professor of Public Policy at the School of Public Policy at George Mason University, and from 2001-2010 he was Bernard L. Schwartz Professor of International Political Economy at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University.  He served as a member of the President’s Council on Bioethics from 2001-2004.

Dr. Fukuyama holds honorary doctorates from Connecticut College, Doane College, Doshisha University (Japan), Kansai University (Japan), and Aarhus University (Denmark), and the Pardee Rand Graduate School.  He is a non-resident fellow at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace and at the Center for Global Development.  He is a member of the Board of Governors of the Pardee Rand Graduate School and the Volcker Alliance.  He is a member of the American Political Science Association and the Council on Foreign Relations.

Peter R. Fisher

He leads the global retirement initiative in the company.

He rejoined BlackRock in January 2022, having spent the last eight years teaching at Tuck Business School in Dartmouth. From 2004 to 2013, he held a variety of roles at BlackRock, including Chairman of Asia and Head of Fixed Income. From 2001 to 2003 he was Under Secretary of the US Treasury for Domestic Finance. From 1985 to 2001, he worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

He has also served as a non-executive director of the UK financial services authority, as a member of the strategic committee of the French Treasury, as a member of the committee of directors of AIF and the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation, as well as member of the committee of governors of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority. Today he is on the steering committee of the Peterson Institute for International Economics and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

Jenny Johnson

Jenny Johnson, president and CEO of Franklin Templeton.

She started at the company thirty years ago and has been a driving force in the journey that has positioned Franklin Templeton as one of the world’s most respected investment management, technology, innovation, diversity, and social responsibility companies. 

She joined in 1988 and has held leadership positions in major divisions, including investment management, distribution, technology, operations, and high-net-worth, before becoming CEO in February 2020. She spearheaded the famous acquisition of Legg Mason in 2020, after this operation, both companies managed $1.5 trillion in assets. 

She has been included, for three years, in Barron’s list of the 100 most influential women in the financial world of the United States and was named Woman of the Year in 2021 by Financial Women of San Francisco, among other recognitions. She was recently included in the Forbes 50 over 50 list, which recognizes women in several industries.  

She is part of a wide variety of boards in the investment management industry such as the Monetary Authority of Singapore panel and the NYSE board. 

She holds an Economics degree from the University of California at Davis. 

Harry Krensky

Harry Krensky, Founder and Managing Partner of Discovery Americas.   

Mr. Krensky is a Founder and Director of Volaris (ULCC Airline), Traxion (Logistics and Transportation), H+ (Healthcare) and Merited (Education).  He serves as Chairman of the Board of Mas (air cargo). Mr. Krensky also sits on the board of directors of Kidzania and Buzz Franchise Brands.    

Previously he served on the Board of Trustees of Colby College (where he served as Chairman of the Investment Committee) and the Governing Board of Defy Ventures.  He was a Founder and Managing Partner of emerging market hedge fund managers Discovery Capital Management and Atlas Capital Management; and was a Founder and Lead Portfolio Manager of the Deutsche Bank emerging market hedge fund.  He has worked in the emerging market group of Bear Stearns; and has served as an Adjunct Professor of international business at New York University’s Stern School of Business.   

Mr. Krensky has a BA from Colby College, a master’s degree from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a MBA from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business. 

Rocío Aguilar Montoya

Rocío Aguilar Montoya, Superintendent of Pensions of Costa Rica.

She is an administrator and lawyer by profession, with extensive experience in public and private management, besides being a pioneer in Costa Rican private banking, with a career of almost 20 years in this sector, in which she held various management positions.

Since April 2020, she is the Superintendent of Pensions in Costa Rica and in September of that same year she was given the surcharge of the Superintendence of Financial Entities (Sugef), a position she had held for a short period in 2018, before being appointed Minister of Finance where she served until 2019. As Minister she led the fiscal reform that became Law in December 2019, with which she achieved the approval of international sources of financing (Eurobonds Law, budget support loans from IDB, CAF and initiates the negotiation with a second credit with IDB together with the AFD and the World Bank).

Between 2015 and 2018 she was a partner in the financial services and infrastructure area of Deloitte Consulting and from 2005 to 2012 she served as General Comptroller of the Republic. Previously, from 2002 to 2005 she headed the Technical Secretariat of the National Concessions Council. 

Alonso Aldama

He is director of the pension fund, investment fund and brokerage firm segments for S&P Global Market Intelligence throughout Latin America. 

With more than 12 years of professional experience, of which 4 years he worked as a financial consultant in one of the Big Four firms, he also worked as a portfolio manager and attraction of new resources in a private debt and securitization fund manager of assets. 

He is a Business Engineer graduated from the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico 

Dr. Tonatiuh Anzures Escandón

Dr. Tonatiuh Anzures Escandón, Director of Government Affairs and Public Policy, DiDi Mexico.

He has been in this position since 2018 and is also an Honorary Research Associate at the Department of Science, Technology and Society at University College London in the United Kingdom.

In public administration he has held various positions, such as General Coordinator of advisors to the Municipal President of the Center in Villahermosa, Tabasco; advisor to the Senior Official in the Department of Territorial and Urban Development and to the President of the Housing Commission in the recently concluded VII Legislature of the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District (ALDF).

During his stay in the UK, he collaborated in the “CONSIDER” project, Civil Society Organizations in Research Design and Governance, funded by the European Commission and participated in the National Center for Universities and Business, a think-tank dedicated to implement the best linking practices between government, business and academia for research and technological development.

Mtro. Oliver Azuara

Oliver Azuara, Senior Economist in the Labor Markets Division of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).

Since 2017, he has worked in this position at the IDB, where he leads operations and research focused on digital social security, the future of work, and evaluation.

He has collaborated on initiatives that respond to how technology can facilitate the recovery of employment after COVID-19; In addition, he is the coordinator of the Digital Social Security Laboratory of the same international organization. Since 2012, he has been part of the IDB Office of Evaluation and Supervision.

Previously, he worked as a researcher in the evaluation of the effect of social protection programs on labor markets and in the design of impact evaluations on financial education and pensions in Mexico.

He has held various positions in the Mexican public sector; He also worked for the World Bank, the Center for Development Research, NERA Economic Consulting, and Yale University.

Josemaría Bolio

Josemaría Bolio, managing director Principal Afore. 

With over 20 years of experience in the financial sector, he was named managing director of Principal Afore since August 2020. He has held management positions in CIBanco, Banco Compartamos as well as leadership roles in IXE Grupo Financiero, Grupo Elektra and Citigroup.

He is an industrial engineer from Universidad Panamericana and holds a master’s degree in business administration from IPADE. He also studied microfinance, leadership and disruptive innovation programs from the Harvard School of Business. 

Mariano Bosch

Mariano Bosch, Principal Economic Advisor, Social Sector of the Inter-American Development Bank Group.

Since joining the bank in 2011, Mariano has led research projects in the area of labor markets, pensions and welfare policies, such as ‘Better pensions, better jobs: towards universal coverage in Latin America and the Caribbean’. Before joining the IDB, Mariano worked as a consultant at the World Bank and as a professor at the University of Alicante. Mariano has published several articles in the area of labor markets and development in refereed journals. He holds a PhD in Economics from the London School of Economics. 

Mtro. Ernesto Brodersohn

Ernesto Brodersohn, Coordinador de las comisiones técnicas de Organización, Gestión e Innovación, y de Tecnologías de la Información y de la Comunicación de la Asociación Internacional de la Seguridad Social.

Early 2022 he joined the International Social Security Association. 

Prior, he was a consultant for the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the Toronto Center and others, in a variety of projects to extend the coverage and inclusion of financial and social security services in more than a dozen countries in Africa, Middle East and Latin America.

From 2003 to 2016, he was an official at CONSAR where he coordinated social security institutions and designed and implemented various regulatory initiatives to facilitate voluntary savings and technological tools to improve coverage and encourage contributions to the pension system.

Since 1995 he has been working on technology issues, serving as a consultant for different large technology consulting companies in the United States.

He has a master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering in 1995 with honors from ITAM in Mexico. 

Nora Cabrera Velasco

Nora Cabrera Velasco – Lawyer, Climate Activist and Co-founder of Nuestro Futuro A.C. 

She is the co-founder and current director of Nuestro Futuro A.C., a non-profit that focuses on creating new ways to drive specific measures that guarantee the right to a future in light of the climate crisis. In addition to her activism, she is a constitutional lawyer.  

Since 2021, she has represented 20 organizations and more than 200 young people as part of current injunctions filed against the Electrical Industry Act. She has also spoken at the Open Parliament on Constitutional Electricity Reforms.  

In 2021, she was named one of the Most Influential Lawyers in Mexico by Foro Jurídico magazine.  

She has a law degree from the Tecnológico de Monterrey and a Master’s in Law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). 

Silvia Cantú

Silvia Cantú – Climate Activist and COP26 Negotiator. 

She is the Climate Action Coordinator at the local Department of Sustainable Urban Development in the city of Monterrey. She is a mentor for The Climate Reality Project, Youth Ambassador for the Sustainable Development Goals at Peace Boat, and Ocean Youth Leader at the Sustainable Ocean Alliance.  

During the summer of 2021, she spearheaded the Ocean Action campaign in Mexico to help drive multi-stakeholder cooperation and ocean literacy in conjunction with 15 marine conservation organizations and collectives from throughout the country. She was also part of the Youth Climate Ambassador COP Operation training program, which paved the way for her to attend COP26 as a Youth Negotiator for the Mexican Delegation for the Global Stocktake and Second Periodic Review tracks. 

She is a certified scuba diver and professional photographer, as well as being passionate about climate justice and inclusive environmental education.  

She has a degree in Political Sciences with a minor in International Environmental Policies from Middlebury College in the USA.

Prior to joining HPS in 2018, he was a Managing Director at JPMorgan Private Bank, where he oversaw Product Specialists for the Alternatives Investment Group.  He helped originate public and private investment opportunities and constructed alternatives portfolios for many of the firm’s most sophisticated clients globally across private credit/equity, real estate, hedge funds, and direct investments.  Prior to JPMorgan Private Bank, he worked at several Investment Banking firms, including JPMorgan, Susquehanna, CIBC, and FBR in various Institutional Sales and Trading capacities across Equities and Fixed Income.

Michelle Cremin

Michelle Cremin, Deputy director at Nest Insight.

She leads alliances, communications and external relations for Nest Insight, a UK public benefits research and innovation center whose mission is to find ways to support people to be financially secure, both today and in retirement. She joined the company before it was launched in 2016.

In 2019, she collaborated on a secondment in the Financial Security Program of the Aspen Institute in Washington D.C. and at the Social Market Foundation, a group of public policy think tanks. She was also responsible for fundraising and partnerships for the London Jazz Festival.

She was recognized as a “Rising Star” at the 2018 UK Women in Pensions Awards. 

Michael Domínguez

Michael Dominguez, Chief Investment Officer and Senior Managing Director, Providence Equity Partners. 

He is a member of the investment, portfolio review and executive committees, leads the firm’s portfolio operations group and serves as co-chair of Providence’s ESG and D&I committees.  

Mr. Dominguez is currently a director of Providence portfolio companies The Chernin Group, OUTFRONT Media, Sweetwater, TAIT and Tempo Music. He was previously a director of AutoTrader, Bresnan Communications, CDW, EdgeConneX, GLM, Learfield Sports, OEConnection, PanAmSat, RentPath, Tele1, Topgolf and ZeniMax.  

Prior to joining Providence in 1998, Mr. Dominguez worked for Salomon Smith Barney in corporate finance, where he focused on the communications industry. Previously, he held positions with Morgan Stanley and Andersen Consulting.

Anthony Eames

Managing Director of Responsible Investment Strategy for Calvert Research and Management. He is responsible for the suite of strategies focused on responsible investing, encompassing actively and passively managed U.S. and international equity strategies, fixed-income strategies and asset allocation funds. Anthony oversees client communications and insights on investment strategy and portfolio positioning. He joined Calvert Research and Management in 2016 when Eaton Vance acquired the business assets of Calvert Investment Management, forming Calvert Research and Management. Anthony began his career in the investment management industry in 1995 with Calvert Investment Management.

Anthony is a director of US SIF: The Forum for Sustainable and Responsible Investment, the leading industry voice advancing sustainable investing across all asset classes. Sarah Friedman Hersh

Sarah Friedman Hersh, Senior Manager, Global ESG Product Strategy, Product, Marketing, Communications

She is a senior manager on the Global ESG Product team in Vanguard’s Portfolio Review Department. She is responsible for the oversight of Vanguard’s U.S. ESG (environmental, social, and governance) product lineup across asset classes, investment strategies, and product structures. She contributes investment thought leadership to Vanguard and industry dialogue on ESG topics that affect long-term value creation for Vanguard funds.

Sarah was previously a leader on Vanguard’s Investment Stewardship team, where she led board-level company engagements and a team of proxy-voting analysts covering industrials, materials, energy, and utilities companies in the Americas. Before joining Vanguard in 2016, she worked in philanthropy and government relations.

Sarah earned a B.A. in international studies from Kenyon College and an M.B.A. from the Yale School of Management. She is a CFA® charterholder and holds the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s Fundamentals of Sustainability Accounting credential.

Arturo García Rodríguez

He holds an outstanding professional track record with over 30 years inside the financial industry in international and national institutions. In Scotiabank he was a deputy general manager of corporate and investment banking. He was also a founding member and managing director of a microfinance company. 

He holds a degree in public accounting with postgraduate studies in finance from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México, as well as a business degree from IPADE.  

Bernardo González Rosas

Bernardo González Rosas, president of AMAFORE.

He was Vice President of Regulatory Policy at the National Banking and Securities Commission and Head of the Banking, Securities and Savings Unit at the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit. His contributions in the Financial Reform of 2014, in the Fintech Law in Congress, as well as the updating of the regulation on the prevention of money laundering are worth noting. He also designed the National Financial Education Strategy in 2017. 

He held management positions in Financiera Rural (today Financiera Nacional) and the Banco del Ahorro Nacional y Servicios Financieros (today Banco del Bienestar). He was a consultant to multilateral organizations such as the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations Development Program and the United Kingdom Department for International Development. He has been a professor at the Universidad Iberoamericana, the Universidad Panamericana and at ITAM. 

He has a Bachelor’s degree in Administration with a specialty in Finance from the Insituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) and a Master’s degree from the McCourt School in Public Policy at Georgetown University.

Likewise, she worked in the Investment area for more than six years at AFP HABITAT and in 2007 she was accredited as a Certified Financial Analyst (CFA) at the CFA Institute.

He is an Economist from the National University of Colombia, with a master’s degree in Applied Mathematics from the same university and a master’s degree in Public Policy from Georgetown University, in the United States.

He has extensive government experience and previously served in a variety of roles in the Department, including as an EBSA investigator, in the EBSA Compliance Office, as EBSA Chief of Staff to two Administrations, and as counsel to the 26th Secretary of Work, Thomas E. Pérez. 

He holds bachelor’s degrees in economics and political science from Johns Hopkins University and a law degree from Emory University School of Law. 

Luis Armando Kuri Henaine

Luis Armando Kuri Henaine, managing director Citibanamex Afore. 

Since May 2021 he runs Citibanamex Afore and is a member of the Amafore and Procesar board of directors. 

He has a track record of more than 30 years in asset management, investment banking, and global and multinational financial services companies. He has directed finance and risk areas and participated in various mergers and acquisitions initiatives in Latin America, such as the sale of ING México to Grupo Sura.

He holds a degree in accounting and business administration from UNAM and holds a master’s degree in in business administration from the McCombs School of Business in Texas University, and another master’s degree in business administration from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. 

María de las Nieves Lanzagorta García

María de las Nieves Lanzagorta García, vice president of outreach at AMAFORE.

She has worked as a communication and financial education specialist at the National Banking and Securities Commission, and at the National Foreign Trade Bank. She has also worked as a consultant on projects for the Stock Exchange in Mexico, the National Entrepreneur Institute, economic development NGOs and for AMAFORE itself.

She has a degree in Economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and has a master’s degree in Comparative Public Policies from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences. 

Jorge Martínez

Jorge Martínez – Energy Specialist, Climate Reality Leader and COP26 Negotiator. 

He is an independent consultant to the energy sector, as well as a Climate Leader and Mentor at the Climate Reality Project. 

He coordinated Citizens’ Climate International in Mexico and was the Global Focal Point for SDG 7 for Latin America and the Caribbean for the UN Major Group for Children and Youth. He won one of the 100 green tickets to attend the Climate Action Summit 2019, as well as representing civil society as part of the official Mexican COP26 delegation. 

He has a degree in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania with a minor in Energy Systems and Sustainability. 

José Mazoy

He joined SAM in 2019 from UBS, where he was Global Head of Dynamic Strategies for three years. Before that, he was Global Co-Head of Macro Systematic Trading Strategies at Goldman Sachs. In 2007, he joined Barclays Capital as EMEA Head of Cross Asset Index Products, having transferred from Deutsche Bank, where he spent two years as an Associate at the Fixed-Income Relative Value Research Group, from 2005 to 2007. He started his career as a Fixed-Income Analyst at the Central Bank of Mexico.

José has a Ph.D in Economics from the University of Chicago and an M.A. and B.A. in Economics from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). 

Álvaro Meléndez Martínez

Álvaro Meléndez Martínez, technical vicepresident at AMAFORE.

He has nearly 20 years of work experience in economic, financial, and social matters. He has been chief economist at the National Banking and Securities Commission, senior advisor to the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit, and consultant for the United Nations and the World Bank. 

In 2015 he received an honorable mention in the Banamex Economics award in the research category, and in 2016 he received first place in the national public finance award granted by the Chamber of Deputies. 

He has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the Universidad de las Américas-Puebla, a master’s degree in Public Policy from the University of Chile, a diploma in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in Quantitative Methods from Columbia University in United States. 

Sergio Mendez

Sergio Méndez, CEO at BlackRock México.

Before assuming his current position, he was CIO at Afore XXI-Banorte since May 2016. Sergio Méndez has more than 22 years of experience in the financial industry. Previously, he was Director of Investment Strategy at Afore XXI, where he managed more than USD $14 billion and positioned the Afore in a leadership position. Sergio Méndez and his team received FundPro’s Platinum Performance Award for Afores in 2011. Afore XXI-Banorte was the first Afore to receive this recognition. Before joining Afore XXI-Banorte, Sergio Méndez worked as CIO of Santander Asset Management in Mexico.

Daniel J. Murphy

Daniel J. Murphy, managing director ACMS Group  

Managing Director in the firmwide Alternatives Capital Markets and Strategy, which oversees institutional capital markets, capital raising and client strategy for alternative investments. 

Prior to the formation of the ACMS Group in 2019, Dan led the portfolio research efforts within the Alternative Investments & Manager Selection Group, focusing on developing risk management, performance analysis and portfolio construction techniques for private investments. He has written papers on several topics including risk management in private equity, a quantitative framework for analyzing private asset allocations and performance analysis in illiquid assets.  

His work has been published in The Journal of Private Equity. Dan joined Goldman Sachs as an analyst in 2001 and was named managing director in 2017. 

Dan earned a BS in Physics and Economics from the California Institute of Technology in 2001. 

Joseph Nelesen

Joseph Nelesen, director of investment index strategy

He is the director of investment index strategy at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). His team provides research and commentary on all S&P DJI products, including US and international equity, commodities, fixed income, and economic indices.

Before joining S&P DJI in 2022, he worked at BlackRock, where he led iShares institutional factor strategy and research and development of foreign exchange products. He also worked on mergers and acquisitions and corporate investment banking at Citigroup and Bear, Stearns & Co.

He holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, as well as an MBA from the University of North Carolina Kenan Flagler School of Business and a BA from the University of California, San Diego.

Edward O'Donnell III

He joined DWS in 2011, after 15 years of experience in the industry.

He performed as a specialist in raw material investments. He was also a senior consultant at NEPC, LLC Consulting, as well as a product manager and engagement manager in Wellington Management Company, LLP, and senior analyst State Street Global Research.

Erik Norland

Eduardo Parra

Eduardo Parra, managing director Afore Azteca. 

He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial sector. He joined Afore Azteca in 2013 and, prior to his actual role, was an investment director. From that position, he restructured the investment area, improving the investment management process and strengthening technological capabilities, promoting an increase in returns. 

He has held several positions in different financial institutions, national and foreign, like Merril Lynch, Banco de México, Scotiabank, Barclays, Actinver and Pip (Price Supplier), conducting functions in treasury administration and operation, risk administration, fixed income desk operation and investment and asset administration.  

Additionally, he has accompanied his professional development by teaching courses on financial issues. Among his specialty topics are Debt Market, Derivatives and Risk Management.  

He holds a public accounting degree from Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, where he also obtained his master’s degree in finance. 

Dr. Iván Pliego Moreno

Since 2021 he was designated president of the Savings System National Comission. 

In public administration, he held several positions as an executive spokesperson for PENSIONISSTE, the only public afore, central administrator of the Evaluation Coordination in the General Evaluation Administration of the Tax Administration Service and was Ombudsman in 2017. Likewise, he served as a financial advisor to the Institute of Security and Social Services for State Workers. 

He has legislative experience by doing advisory to the Foreign Relations Comission in the Chamber of Deputies and to the president of the Commission of Finance and Public Credit, he was also coordinator of the Technical Office of International Trade Negotiations and Director of Liaison of the Center for Studies of Public Finances (CEFP) of the Chamber of Deputies.

He also has academic experience as a Researcher at the Center for Social Studies and Public Opinion (CESOP), where he published various articles related to budget, economic and financial issues. He has been a professor at the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, at the Universidad Iberoamericana and at the Universidad Anáhuac, and has directed numerous master’s and doctoral theses.

Graduated from the National School of Teachers, he has a degree in Political Sociology from the Autonomous Metropolitan University, UAM, and a Doctorate in Economic History from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). 

David Razú Aznar

Prior to occupying managing office, he had several management positions in federal public administration, tied to the study of public policy in labor markets and social security in the Finance and Public Credit Office, as well as the Mexican Institute of Social Security. He was also a consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank. 

He holds a master’s degree in development management from the London School of Economics and Political Science and another in public administration from Harvard University. 

Eduardo Salaburu

Isela Indira Salas

Isela Indira Salas – Climate Activist, Co-founder of Misión Planeta A.C. and Climate Reality Leader. 

She is the co-founder of Misión Planeta A.C., a movement to motivate agents of change to protect ecosystems and create collective solutions to help tackle the challenges we are currently facing. 

She started her first project at the age of 12, successfully driving a group effort to plant more than 2 million trees in Mexico City and laying the foundations for the first environmental mobility law in the city. 

She is also a member of other change agent networks, including Ashoka, Women and Gender Constituency and the Climate Reality Project, among others.

Dr. Elio Sánchez Chávez

Since 2019 he has held the position of Deputy Superintendent at the AFP.

He has worked in the regulatory body for more than 29 years and has held various positions such as Head of Research and Planning, Planning and Development Intendant, Pension Strategy Intendant, and General Intendant of Pension Supervision in the Deputy Superintendence of AFP.

He chaired the Board of Directors of the International Association of Pension Fund Supervisors (AIOS) and is its First Vice President for the 2022-2024 period.

He participated in the studies and projects for change in the private pension system of his country since the beginning of the private pension system. He has been an exhibitor and lecturer on pension systems, in Peru and abroad.

He works as a professor at the Universidad del Pacífico, located in the city of Lima, and teaches on the Pension Systems and on subjects related to behavioral economics in the Academic programs of Economics and Finance.

Gabriela Santana

Gabriela Santana García, Financial Advisor at Fibra EDUCA. 

She is currently Director of Investments at Mexicana de Becas Education Investment Fund, and financial advisor to Fibra EDUCA. She specializes in investment and risk management, and she is an enthusiastic promoter of long-term savings and financial literacy among young people.  

She was part of the advent of the pension fund system in México, and has contributed to its development and construction from different angles. She was head of risk management at Afore XXI and Afore Pensionissste. Prior to that, she worked for Nafin Development Bank in treasury management. Gabriela spent her professional formative years at Mexico’s Central Bank as an economics and markets analyst and also as a trader in the international reserves investment area. 

She has been a financial advisor to diverse corporations and institutions.  

Gabriela holds a degree in economics and a master’s degree in finance from ITAM, and has graduate studies at New York University (NYU) and the University of Warwick in the UK. 

Arturo Saval

He is also Chairman of the Corporate Practices Board of Grupo Hotelero Santa Fe, Chairman of the Corporate Practices Board of Traxion, as well as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Taco Holding and member of the Board of Consejo de la Comunicación. Additionally, he is President of Nexxus Iberia Fund I, a private equity fund managed with a local team based in Madrid, Spain.

Antonio Sibaja Luna

Antonio Sibaja Luna, investment director at Afore Profuturo.

He has served for different Afores in the Retirement Savings System. Among his responsibilities is the design and coordination of the investment strategy for multi-asset portfolios that include alternative investments, fixed income, variable income, foreign exchange, and derivative instruments for an amount that exceeds the 40 billion dollars. 
 
He has 25 years of experience in the financial system. He held various positions at Banco de México, highlighting his participation in the implementation of exchange policy and monitoring of emerging economies. He also participated, by way of invitation, at the IMF in surveillance missions.

He is an economist from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana, where he received the University Merit Medal (summa cum laude) and has an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. 

Juan Manuel Valle Pereña

Juan Manuel Valle Pereña, managing director Afore Coppel.

Before joining Grupo Coppel, he carried out consulting activities and structuring of project financing in different sectors, participating in strategy and governance of Deep Dive, a data science startup. He also ran, for two years, Afore XXI Banorte.

He has also been a part of the public sector, in the Social Development Office, as a managing director of Diconsa; in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an executive director of the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation; and in the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit as chief of the Banking, Securities and Savings Unit.

He holds and Economics degree from Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México and a master’s degree in public policy from the Princeton School of Public and International Affairs.  

Leonardo Villa Reynolds

He holds this position since 2021. Leonardo joined Afore XXI Banorte in 2016 as Head Portfolio Manager.

Before joining the firm, he was the fund manager of Multi Asset and Global Asset Allocation Funds at Santander Asset Management Mexico.

Leonardo has 18 years of experience in financial markets, he holds a Commercial Engineer degree at UGM in Santiago de Chile, a Master in Banking and Financial Market from Universidad de Cantabria and a postgraduate in Advance Asset Management from London Business School. 

Renato Weiss

Renato Weiss, Senior Principal of Lexington Partners.

Renato Weiss is a Principal of Lexington Partners primarily engaged in the evaluation of secondary purchases of non-U.S. private equity and alternative investments. Prior to joining Lexington in 2016, Mr. Weiss was a vice president in investment banking at Goldman Sachs and prior to that he was an analyst in investment banking at Citigroup, both in Brazil.
